Size:

If you have a hat that already fits perfectly, you can check its size tag and match it with our chart to determine the size of your Elegancia Tropical hat.

Or, wrap a measuring tape around the widest part of your head right above your ears and your eyebrows or in the center of your forehead. This will depend on where you want the hat to sit.

Once you have established your measurement, please use the sizing chart below to determine your size

Small - 55cm / Hat Size 7
Medium - 57cm / Hat Size 7 1/4
Large - 59cm / Hat Size 7 1/2

Material:

The fiber with which genuine Panama Hats are made is called toquilla straw, a vegetable fiber obtained from an endemic palm tree of Ecuador. Besides being farmed in an eco-friendly way, this fiber is also 100% biodegradable.

Care instructions:

The materials and construction of your Panama Hat make it a very versatile and resistant accessory. The only real threatening condition that could damage it is exposure to water. Contact with water can cause wrinkles and misshaping of the hat, which is why its important to avoid.

To restore a wrinkle, iron it on low heat with a clean, dry cloth between the iron and the product. Repeat this process until the imperfection disappears, always being careful that the straw does not overheat and burn. Do not use the steam function in this process.

Origins:

Panama hats are actually and exclusively from Ecuador and should really be called Ecuador Hats. The reason why they are called Panama hats is becuase they were used during the construction of the Panama Canal.

It takes 8 hours to weave each piece and the technique used is so unique it was declared a cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.

Our innovative aesthetics are firmly grounded in a sustainable production that prioritizes environmentally friendly materials and responsible practices. As a result of our work, many expert artisans can make a fair living continuing the legacy of their craft.
