The Juicy Salif lemon squeezer is one of the best known young retro design icons of the late 1980's and for sure the most famous lemon squeezer in the world. Philippe Starck designed it early in his career and it helped him to gain worldwide recognition as an outstanding product designer. Until today it continues to be among the most provocatively intelligent objects in the catalog of Italian kitchenware company Alessi. It is probably not the most practical kitchen device but that didn't harm it's popularity at all as many of it's admirers use it as a functional sculpture and collectors item. It is displayed in numerous design collections, among them in the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
