    Description:

TOUR DE FRANCE 1948 print features the cover of a TDF special edition French sports magazine showing Edouard Fachleitner, an Italian-born Frenchman who rode professionally between 1943 and 1952.

The 1948 Tour was the 35th and consisted of 21 stages over 4,922 km. It was won by Italian cyclist Gino Bartali who had reportedly almost given up during the race until he received a phone call from the Italian prime minister, Alcide De Gasperi, asking Bartali to win the Tour de France to prevent civil unrest in Italy after an assassination attempt against the leader of the Italian Communist Party, Palmiro Togliatti.

All our print images are professionally scanned and retouched from original sources in our collection and printed to the highest standard on 180gsm poster stock.

    Available in 4 size variations.
