Homes: The Socialite Family
A blog that looks through the keyhole at contemporary urban families in Paris, New York, London and Los Angeles, ‘The Socialite Family’ – “a sample of smart and cool families” – had me at the name. Each set of beautiful photographs also features a brief but charming interview with the family (translated from the French, so beware the spelling and grammar).
Food: Silvia’s Cucina
Silvia Colloco is a stage and screen actress, an opera singer and a food lover. The Italian-born mother of two is married to the Australian actor Richard Roxburgh. She learnt to cook at her mamma and nonna’s side and the food she shares on her blog, ‘Silvia’s Cucina’, is a reflection of that authenticity. This has become my go-to Italian food blog – the recipes are simple and honest and always turn out better than expected. You can’t ask for more than that.
Travel: Condé Nast Traveler’s top 10 villas
This is Villa Spinal-Termine, a rustic-chic farmhouse on an estate run by an aristocratic Italian family (they live in an eleventh-century castello elsewhere on the property). The grounds include tennis courts, stables, a heated pool and an osteria, and a setting to die for! It’s one of 10 gorgeous villas (and castles and cottages) from around the world featured by Condé Nast Traveler. A girl can dream, can’t she?
Fashion: Because magazine
Online magazine Because (“how to look amazing and where to go when you do”) is beloved by those who live for fashion. Run by the über-stylish Caroline Issa, Because blends photography, writing, film and shopping into one glorious experience. Issa is an ex-model (for the blink of an eye) and an ex-financial management consultant and is also fashion director for the very hip, London-based print quarterly Tank.
Inspiration: Sometimes I Drift
This stunning Tumblr blog describes itself as “a collective journal: for the visual vagabond”. You’ll find it’s easy to drift among these images.
