Homes: The Design Files
I’ve always loved fashion designer Lee Mathews’ style – her clothes and the stores she showcases them in. This love now extends to her home, an incredible warehouse in Sydney’s Balmain that oozes creativity and an eye for detail. Take a tour of it at popular design blog The Design Files.
Food: Pastry Affair
This vanilla bean malt cake is, without doubt, one of the best cakes I’ve made in a long time. The taste is a lovely combination of malt and vanilla bean and it’s wonderfully moist. An absolute crowd pleaser and dead easy to make (and, bonus, you’ll probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry).
Fashion: Refinery 29
The big leagues of street style. That’s how Refinery 29 describes this awesome gallery of chic, stylish women spotted at the Tuileries and beyond during Paris Fashion Week. Seventy pictures in total – it’s a festival of fashion off the catwalk.
Travel: Virginia Quarterly Review
Iceland as a travel destination has been getting a bit of press lately and I’ve read nothing better than this piece by gifted writer Bill Hayes. It was published in the Virginia Quarterly Review and is an exceptional piece of storytelling. (And if you’re in an Icelandic state of mind, go visit Home & Delicious, a beautiful blog from Reykjavík).
Pinspiration: Joy Cho/Oh Joy!
You have to wonder how good your Pinterest has to be to entice nearly 14 million followers, but that’s exactly what Joy Cho – LA-based designer, blogger and foodie – has managed to achieve. She pins a lot, and often, but it’s generally quality material with a sense of fun. And it’s good to know I’m not the only stationery nerd out there – that board has 572,885 followers and counting!
