Phoodie’s favourite Mother’s Day gifts

Food blogger Phoodie speaks with htf. magazine about the joys and challenges of motherhood and what she hopes to receive on May 11.

Being a mother is a journey like no other. From the minute I first gazed into both of my kids’ eyes, I knew I would never be “just me” ever again. It was an amazing, yet overwhelming sensation. The unconditional love that goes both ways is an incredible feeling. The biggest challenge I find with motherhood is letting go and stepping back. I definitely struggle with letting them make mistakes (even small ones) and I also struggle with spending time away from them, even a few hours. That said, there are definitely times during the week when I need a break, but after only a short time apart, I am craving their company once more!

Phoodie’s Mother’s Day wishlist

  1. ‘Chaman’ dress, $289. Casual and stylish, this dress would fit perfectly in my dream wardrobe.
  2. ‘Apres Aspen’ pyjama pants, $49.95. I always wear pyjama pants and tops to bed, never nighties, as I find them much more comfortable.
  3. ‘Angelina’ green onyx earrings, $249. I am thinking of chopping all of my hair off and will need some statement earrings to balance out the size of my head!
  4. Turkish towel in ‘navy stripes’, $39. I adore the stripes design and the texture of this towel.
  5. ‘Rose & geranium’ bath salts, $25. Bath salts are the perfect gift for anyone who ever gets exhausted. I think that’s most of us!
  6. Polyresin pineapple , $79.95. Pineapples remind me of tropical holidays from years gone by. They are such a happy fruit!
  7. ‘Cork’ side table, $249. I love quirky furniture, and the foodie angle of this piece makes it even better.
  8. Aquiesse ‘pink peony’ candle, $54.95. Peonies are my favourite flowers so I would love to have this candle burning while having a long, hot soak.
  9. ‘Turkish’ ceramic plate, $89. I collect platters. For me, they are an item you can never have too many of, especially stunning ones like this.
  10. Rose quartz dress ring, $279. I LOVE rose quartz. I am also a fan of chunky jewellery. Tick and tick with this ring!
