Everywhere RN: Woven pieces

Remember when rattan chairs were almost exclusive to old people’s homes and council collections? Well, newsflash: Rattan has been resurrected and woven pieces are everywhere.

Versatile, durable and with a cool I-found-this-at-a-flea-market feel, wicker pieces are making their way into our homes and wardrobes – think everything from hats to baskets and light shades. It’s a look that works easily with coastal and eclectic interior styles, but if you want to nail the vintage/modern clash, try contrasting woven pieces with industrial-style natural materials like marble, stone or leather.

And look for non-traditional designs (like, say a patterned woven bowel or blue-and-whitewashed rattan placemat) that take this trend out of the ’50s and into the now.
