POL Clothing on their colour-pop philosophy

We spoke to the team behind the label started by Australian designer Sam Jones about how colour fits into their sophisticated, contemporary style.

When we design a range for POL, we like to start with a neutral palette. Black, grey and white feature in all of our collections – the colour combinations created are timeless and sophisticated.  A lot of our designs focus on unexpected shapes and movement as a way to add interest, rather than too many bright colours and prints.

While we are all a little monochrome mad at POL HQ, there’s nothing wrong with a little pop of colour here and there! Once we have our key shapes nailed down, we like to add in a feature colour or two, to add a point of difference and have a little fun. For our winter collection, we were inspired by a sunny yellow as our trend colour. We think it’s the perfect way to add a little pop that is sure to brighten your wardrobe (and your mood!) on the grey and chilly days. And from looking around at hardtofind, it looks like lots of other people are playing with yellow this season, too.
