From sailing to sandcastles, we all need to know what the tide is doing. Synchronised to the lunar cycle, the tide clock provides an innovative and convenient guide to tides.
The classic off-white (powder coated steel) clock has been designed to look great within any home environment, as well as providing all the information we need to enjoy this ever-changing and inspiring coast on a daily basis.
Simply set the 'tide' hand to the full tide position at exactly high tide for your chosen location, then throw away your tide table!
The quartz-driven hand will rotate every 12 hours and 25 minutes around the fascia, giving you the state of the tide at a glance. The tide clock has been specially designed to rotate twice each period (every 12 hours and 25 minutes and 14 seconds), giving you a quick and easy indication of high and low water. The tide clock will always stay synchronised with the moon. There are influences on sea levels that affect exact tide times and the user should take these into account:
Strong onshore and offshore winds, changes in the volume of river flows, Variations in atmospheric pressure.
(The suns own gravitational pull, when lined up with the moon (full moon and new moon) increases the tidal range, and can alter tide times by up to an hour).
