Caring for your Silver

All silver will tarnish over time. This process is natural but some substances in our daily lives will speed the process up, contact with soap, hairspray, perfume, food, latex and even the natural oils on our hands can tarnish silver quicker.

We recommend that you use a good quality jeweller's silver cloth regularly as part of your jewellery cleaning routine before the tarnish process begins.

Always remove jewellery before showering or swimming as silver can react with chemicals and chlorine.

Silver is a soft metal and it will naturally mark and scar if knocked, this is a natural characteristic of silver and means a pure silver charm or pendant will age and wear gradually over time. Charms made from sterling silver will be slightly more resilient.


Caring for your Bronze

We love bronze! It's an alloy made of copper and tin, has a beautiful warm golden tone, and is an affordable alternative to 10 or 14k gold.

With bronze, we can offer affordable large statement pieces without the need for any plating that will eventually wear away. Solid bronze is durable, easy to clean, and will last for decades.

Our goal is to create long-lasting timeless pieces that don't end up in a landfill or discarded after one season. So we don't make items plated in gold or silver, because the plating will eventually wear off the base metal, leaving your jewellery looking nothing like how how you purchased it.

Bronze does have one drawback, which is that the copper content can cause an oxidation reaction with your skin oils, creating a greenish layer of copper carbonate.

This layer is easily washed off, and you can minimise the oxidation by taking your jewellery off at night, and washing it regularly with soap and water. You can also periodically coat it with any metal wax, or a wax called Renaissance Wax, which prevents the jewellery from tarnishing and inhibits the oxidation reaction with your skin oils. Wax will wear off, but is easy to re-apply at home. We send you your jewellery with a coating of wax already applied.

With a little care, most people can wear bronze jewellery every day without oxidation.
