What do you get when you combine the creativity and art of a couple of professional designers inspired by Mid 20th Century design and illustration; Danish design and vintage advertising posters?
The answer is Printspace!
A desirable collection of new fresh Art Prints created for the young and young at heart. Find sweet birds, hooting owls, quirky penguins and retro robots amongst the range. Created and made in Melbourne Australia by Artists Mara Girling and Nicholas Girling.
The stylish and colourful prints make a great gift. They also can grace the walls of your living room, kitchen and nursery. Whilst we do create some art specifically for art lovers' living rooms, much of the art is designed for children's rooms as well. "The beauty of the art created for young one's rooms is that the creations are to spark the child's imagination and to generate an interest in art." The paper we use is museum quality, acid and chlorine free and the inks are pigment based. All we need now is the museum.
The friendly people behind the creations at Printspace are husband and wife duo Mara Girling and Nicholas Girling. Both studied Graphic Design at Swinburn and Monash Universities in Melbourne Australia and share a passion for creating artworks which are memorable and happy.
How did Printspace start?
A Shared enthusiasm for creating art sparked the beginning of Printspace. Both Mara and Nicholas knew having a studio, creating lifestyle / art based products was a big part of their future. Mara took time off work to have their 2 boys and after a few false starts with the materials and methods, some scratching of the head, grinding of the teeth and occasional frowning, they decided to stick at it and press onward and upward. Printspace has grown in interest from the support of the people around Nicholas and Mara and now has an energy of it's own. Both have collected bits and pieces over the years from life and created scrap books which clarified their personal styles and colours. Another guiding light is their attraction to modernist architecture, art, commercial art and illustration in the late 50's and early 60's.
Their continued aim is to run a highly creative studio that is inspiring and fun, surrounded by a happy team and creative collaborators. "We'd love to have a positive effect on your room and to help people smile."
