Whether you’re popping the cork on a bottle of bubbly to ring in 2018 or just making the most of the extra daylight hours with a pot-luck barbecue, summer is a season when the party invites flow in thick and fast. And, like any good boy scout will tell you, the secret to being the best guest (or hostess!) is to be prepared.
With a closet full of party-ready frocks, a pair of bright tassel earrings on standby and a wine cooler to keep your Prosecco on ice, you’ll be free to RSVP yes to any event that comes along (except maybe your sister-in-law’s essential oil party, which sounds like it’s going to be four long hours of stale Jatz and cabanossi slices…).
Throw the perfect bash
You don’t need a lot to host a memorable summer shindig. Delicious food + awesome people + enough drinks that no-one has to open that dusty bottle of goodness-knows-what at the end of the night = a good time had by all. Of course, it doesn’t hurt if you add a few fancy decorative extras, like giant confetti balloons, sparkly party hats and big fancy banners.
Be the best-dressed guest
A new outfit for party season is an essential investment (we spoke to your bank manager, he agreed). The only question is: Will you go monochrome with pops of colour courtesy of your statement ear danglers? Or will you embrace the sparkle of the season in gold, velvet and OTT jewellery that says ‘I’ve arrived’.
Call in the glam squad
All those hours you spent watching YouTube beauty tutorials are about to pay off – and you just know that cat-eye’s going to look👌 (hopefully!). Our hot tip: Don’t enjoy too many pre-game vinos before you attempt to turn your face into a visual masterpiece.
Don’t forget your hot date!
Can you remember what Ryan Reynolds wore to the Cannes Film Festival? No-one can – he was too busy being overshadowed by Blake Lively’s incredible floor-sweeping Gucci gown! It might not be all about the boys when the Insta stories are being snapped, but it lifts everyone’s game when you both turn it up a notch…
